From new disruptors like Nino Brown and DJ Ana to legends like DJ Rekha of Basement Bhangra, this event brings together a collective of dynamic and global BRWN artists for a night of cultural connection and expression through music. With influences ranging across countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Trinidad and so much more, we welcome you to our culture, our music, our frequencies.

Queer Pakistani-Egyptian DJ, artist & writer Aisha Mirza (@uglyinahotway) wants you to dance. A regular DJ at London & New York's most vibrant club nights & having played stages across Europe & beyond, they are well versed at getting the party started.
At Aisha's sets expect a genre-transcendent adventure through South Asian melodies, North African, Brazilian & Afrobeat booty-shaking rhythms, club bangers & Kate Bush edits. Celebated as a "gender non-conforming trailblaizer" by British Vogue in Feb 2022, Aisha is at the cutting edge of underground queer club culture.
Aisha is also the founder of misery (@miseryparty) a mental health charity & sober rave for queer/trans people of colour. They are passionate about accessible raving, mental health, boats & their wife.
Queens, NYC-based Artist & Entrepreneur making hip-hop that travels, drawing from his immigrant roots and his inner city upbringing. Anik recently released his double EP DENIED//APPROVED and collaborated with the likes of Burna Boy, Bas, Sango and more. Outside of music, Anik has created an entrepreneurial ecosystem for himself which includes being a partner in NYC's critically acclaimed Kolkata Chai cafe and his "Foreign Affair" media company. His work has been featured in Billboard, The Fader, NPR, VICE, Forbes and more. Along with a Webby Award winning documentary, Anik is also a published author with his recent Penguin Random House book focusing on the first-generation immigrant experience.
DJ Ana, Canadian Born and Trinidad raised, has been a DJ since she was 8 years old. DJ Ana has been on radio since the age of 16 as a DJ/Announcer. DJ Ana has had the number one afternoon drive radio show in her format for the past 5 years. She is currently a radio announcer/DJ on LIT 102.3 FM which is the newest and trendiest Top 40 radio station in Trinidad. DJ Ana has a weekly ONLINE show called “Friday Night Live” which has had millions of viewers and gets hundreds of thousands of views weekly online on Facebook, Youtube and Twitch. DJ Ana’s Youtube virtual mixtape series has millions of views and has worked on National TV stations in the Caribbean as a host for the past ten years. In 2020, Dj Ana was a brand ambassador for the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization in their campaign against the Spread of Covid-19.
Ushka is a Sri Lankan-born, Brooklyn-based deejay traversing genres across electronic club & bass music. She deejays from the perspective of a dancer, blending a wide range of global club music from South Asian rhythms to afrobeat, queer club music to dembow, dancehall to soca, and more. She has performed across the U.S, Mexico, and Canada - including at institutions such as Brooklyn Museum, Lincoln Center, MoMA PS1, American Museum of Natural History, Rubin Museum, The Shed, Toronto's Harbourfront Centre, and Montreal's Fondation Phi, and NYC's SummerStage. Ushka has been a staple in NYC's queer nightlife, having run the iBomba party for six years and djing parties such as Papi Juice, Gush, Ragga, Bubble-T, Yellow Jackets Collective's Lunar New Year, Moonshine, Basement Bhangra and more. let loose on the dance floor. Her cheeky blends of dancehall, rnb and
pop bangers ear marked her signature style, yet the incorporation
of electronic club sounds equally make up her genre
jumping sets.
Nino is the co-founder Canada's largest inclusive dance party series
Yes Yes Y'all (YYY/Toronto) which has been voted one of the city's
top jams since its conception in 2009. The YYY crew is known for
their emphasis on diversity and inclusivity, and their event has
become a Toronto institution, attracting both local and international
talent. In addition, she provides resident DJ/promoter/curator
duties all over some of Toronto’s biggest events and helped
spearhead an underground dance movement that links music, style,
advocacy and a proper rave.
DJ Rekha pioneered the merging of Bhangra and Bollywood sounds with contemporary electronic dance music. Rooted in hip-hop and dub their DJ sets range from Brazilian Baile Funk to Balkan Beats and everything in between.
They founded Basement Bhangra, one of NYC’s longest-running club nights (1997-2017).
Their debut album "DJ Rekha presents Basement Bhangra" (featuring a track with Wyclef Jean) won much critical acclaim and was nominated for best DJ album by the 2008 Plug Awards. They are the founder of Basement Bhangra™, Bollywood Disco, and co-founder of Mutiny Club nights. They were named "Ambassador of Bhangra" by the New York Times.
Rekha was the sound designer for the TONY award‐winning Broadway Show, "Bridge and Tunnel," and received a Drama Desk Award nomination for their work on the play "Rafta Rafta." Rekha was also the associate producer for the NPR Radio Documentary, "A Feet in Two Worlds."
They have curated events for Celebrate Brooklyn, Central Park’s Summerstage, and have performed at the Obama White House and internationally.
